oh and...we can retire when you are 55 years old. But if you do so, it gives you only 40% of your retirement...if you wait 'til 60 y.o., you'll have 100% of it.

No need to go overseas...Canada, where I am = 35hours per week. Every additionnal hour paid double and worked only if you want to. 9 weeks of vacations per year. 15 paid holidays. If you CHOOSE to work on your holiday, you will be paid twice. At least, that how it is where I live, in the French part of Canada... Oh...and if you get really sick and stop working, you have 2 years fully paid and then you swith on the aid, which is 85% of your annual income for the rest of your life...

Cotty, there is trouble in the French labor force. They are striking because the government wants to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62 within the next 5 years. Perish the thought of having to work until you are 62.

DiD -

You're right on about the friggin' weekends. We work too much in this country! The French may be farking cowards and useless bastards in many regards, but they got the work hours thing figured out.

- 35 hour work week

- 5 weeks of paid vacation per year MINIMUM. Some get 8 weeks a year!

- No paid overtime allowed. If you work more than 35 hrs/wk, you must take additional time off

- 12 paid holidays per year

Last weekend was good. All LONG weekends are good. We should have 3-day weekends every weekend. Just sayin'...

As for libations, copious amounts of Sam Adams Boston Lager and Octoberfest were imbibed and I got to work cooking on my bad-azz, new grill. Shrimp, Flat Iron Steaks and chicken went down for the count. Yum.

Cigar-wise, a few Perdomo Grand Cru Corojos, A Camacho Liberty and some JR Alternatives to the Punch Rothschild were burned.

I had my fantasy football draft (I am expecting big things from Aaaron Rodgers of the Packers), at which slow-cooked baby-back ribs and thick, New York strip steaks were cooked up to perection by my buddy Matt.

And, college football kicked off. GO BLUE!!!

LMAO! Whaddya mean, "me too" you fat poo-lack!?!?? ;)

Picked up the final piece of furniture we bought over the weekend yesterday. OMFG, that armoire has to weigh 600 or 700 pounds! It's in two sections that stack on top of each other. Guy said it was out of a high-end hotel - one of those that holds a TV and a spot for a mini-fridge, etc. Thing's about 7 feet tall and 8 feet wide.

Lucie, that is some wonderful perspective and I'm very glad you enjoyed the little things this past weekend.

Lou, the work part blows but sharing with your boy is literally priceless.

Great stuff, you guys. You too, Cotty.

Unfortunately for me the wife takes the labor part of Labor Day seriously. My weekend included: cleaning the gutters, cleaning out the garage, going to Home Depot and buying a new door for the bathroom closet, 30-8 foot garden rails, new shelving for the garage and driveway sealer.

Did get to spend time having a couple of cigars with my son though.
